Projects

As a 5th grade math teacher, I have adapted our curriculum to a format that works for our entire grade level: easy to follow slides that empowers teachers and guided notes that help students to organize their thoughts, practice their note-taking skills, and provide examples for review. Additionally, I have created several resources to track student progress, identify misconceptions and gaps, and plan student interventions.

Complete Unit Teaching Slides with Guided Notes

For each unit in our math curriculum, I adapted the information into a series of unit plans, each lesson building upon the next. I ensured that the lessons adhered to the standards expected to be covered by the Georgia Standards of Excellence and prepared students for the Georgia Milestones Assessment System state test I also created guided notes for student use.

Student Data Tracking Resources

As my students came to me with wider learning gaps, I needed a more consistent way to track all student progress. I was able to create multiple resources to quickly analyze formatives in the Small Group Planner, progress summarizing learning across the school year in the Student Growth Tracker, and individual and small group data in my Small Groups Planner. I shared these resources with the educators at my school.

Teacher Coaching Artifacts

As I completed my Educational Specialist Degree in Math Leadership, I documented the coaching cycle I completed with a new 5th grade teacher. Additionally, I provided evidence of successful collaboration and cooperation with my fellow teachers. Artifacts from both of these situations are attached. Also included are documents created to assist teachers in the understanding standards, teaching students, and interpreting student data. Use the buttons to the right to view contributing artifacts of each topic.

Professional Development Experience

As a teacher leader and math content lead, I spearheaded the professional development opportunity for teachers in encouraging productive struggle in our high achieving students. This gave teachers a framework on how to reach those students who "already know how" and provide the enrichment needed to foster perseverance in our high achieving students.
